My
passion for Poodles began one frigid Christmas
Eve in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1968. My
husband was career a officer in the US Army
and we were visiting his parents as he was
soon to be deployed to Vietnam, and I wanted
a puppy! We were both animal lovers and
already had a young German shepherd and
2 cats. I answered an ad in the local paper
and being the night before Christmas, the
selection was slim. My search brought me
to the home of well known breeder, Loraine
Tanke. I felt with a beautiful cream 6 month
old female which I appropriately named “Candi
Cane” – her photo can be found
on this page. When I first saw “Candi”,
she stole my heart. My love for this petite
Poodle sparked a life-long passion and occupation
to reproduce her intelligence, loyalty and
beauty. My next aquisition was Rosaline's
Flame of Sassafras from the infaimos Sassafras
kennel of Pamela Ingram.(see photo below)
Since I was an Army wife, I joined my husband
in travels all over the world, sometimes
in its most remote corners! My dogs always
accompanied us. My dogs
are like my children. They share our home and take turns sleeping in bed, going
for a car ride or a trip in our 36ft. motor home! My puppies are raised with
tremendous love and attention and are in our home and not in a remote kennel
building somewhere! My Poodles are not caged like most other kennels do it,
but are free and allowed to play and interact
with one another. We have 3 acre with
huge shade trees and every morning I begin my day with a cup of hot chocolate
sitting in my courtyard, passing out “treats” and take a little
time to talk to the “kids”.
I believe strongly in pure color breeding, that is breeding only like color
to like color or family of colors. All my puppies are selectively bred with
the
greatest respect to the breed standard.
Ever since I saw my first Red Poodles in 1973, it was love at first sight! I
vowed to improve the quality of this striking new member of the Poodle family.
I am regarded as a knowledgeable
and professional breeder and coupled with my love of the Red Toy Poodle, I joined
a small community of dedicated people in a common goal to "improve" the Reds
by conformation, labor, dedication and love to insure that they can someday
compete with all colors in the competitive ring.
The Red Poodle was not accepted by the Judges and many fellow breeders in those
days, so this was to be quite a challenge! Since that time, I have bred and/or
show several Red
Champions in the US and abroad.
If you are a discriminating Poodle lover, I can offer puppies in a variety of
sizes in
several colors, including apricot toy poodles and the trendy Black & White Parti Poodles. Each one is
unique and never another one marked like him. Although the Parti's are not accepted
into the
Conformation Show Ring, they are accepted for registration with the American
Kennel Club (AKC). All my poodle puppies are AKC registered, arrived in their new homes
groomed,
beribboned and prespoiled! Contact me, I may have your next best friend!
